Businessman: ABC's '20/20' has jaundiced eye; a Miami jury is hearing a libel case brought by a local real estate developer

Article Abstract:

Florida real estate developer Alan Levan is suing Capital Cities/ABC Inc and claiming he was libeled by the '20/20' TV news program. The show aired a story on his swap of bonds for real estate partnerships, and subsequent sales of the property to put funds into a savings and loan. While ABC holds that its story was accurate, it has made a retraction by noting that Levan did talk to an ABC producer for the story.

No clean sweep in 'Court Broom;' jury frustrated, confused

Article Abstract:

'Operation Court Broom,' an undercover investigation of judicial corruption in Miami, produced a great deal of evidence but did not convince the jury, which returned only two convictions. Judges Harvey N. Shenberg and David Goodhart were convicted of racketeering and conspiracy. The jurors complained that the indictment was too complex and one juror holdout felt there had been entrapment.
