The crisis of poverty law and the demands of benevolence
Article Abstract:
Legal services for the poor experienced crisis in the late 1990s, due to increasing funding scarcity for poverty lawyers. Critics on the left overstate their case by arguing that legal services to the poor are relatively unimportant in light of the ineffectiveness and under-inclusiveness of such services. The critics' argument also ignores the real needs of poor citizens seeking legal help.
