Article Abstract:

This issue is dedicated to Philip B. Kurland, who holds the William R. Kenan, Jr Professorship at the University of Chicago Law School. He is an influential scholar of constitutional law, founding editor of the 'Supreme Court Review' and recipient of awards for both research and teaching. Kurland looks at the Constitution as a system of interdependent parts and at constitutional issues as interdisciplinary problems concerning law's relation to reason.

In memoriam: Hans

Article Abstract:

Hans Zeisel's character was reflected in his personal life as well as in his legal scholarship. A member of the faculty of the University of Chicago Law School, he exhibited a rare combination of skepticism, empathy and fearlessness both personally and professionally. Zeisel achieved prominence as a pioneer in the empirical study of law and was the author of studies on the jury and on the criminal justice system.

The life and accomplishments of University of Chicago Law School professor Edward H. Levi are celebrated. Levi's role as U.S. Attorney General during the Gerald R. Ford administration is also discussed.
