Failed FDA reform
Article Abstract:
The FDA regulations and policies are considered by many drug companies as ill-founded and outdated and pose a hindrance to the delivery of new and innovative therapies. In response, Congress has introduced several laws that would reform the agency. However, the 104th and the 105th Congress have failed to produce meaningful results which may have a detrimental impact on drug development. To protect public health and interests, the changes sought in the 1997 FDA Modernization Act should be supplemented by meaningful reform.
