Fairness as a constraint in the real estate market
Article Abstract:
Economic behavior of companies is assumed to be geared toward profit maximization. However, the Kahneman, Knetsch and Thaler 1986 study demonstrated that perceptions of fairness also constrain firm behavior. A study extends the concept of fairness constraints to the real estate industry to determine how it affects economic decision-making in the industry. The study finds that fairness constraints do exist in the real estate industry, which is distinct from other industries in that the community perceives an advantageous landlord-tenant relationship in favor of the landlords.

The books 'The End of History?' by Francis Fukayama and 'Specters of Marx: The State of the Debt, the Work of Mourning and the New International' by Jacques Derrida provide insights on business ethics after the collapse of real socialism. The textbooks include discussions of the advantages and disadvantages of capitalism as a total economic system and of alternative systems.
