Women change the face of small business ownership
Article Abstract:
Women business owners present an important business opportunity for insurance agents. They make up 70% of all new businesses and usually manage their employee benefits themselves, allowing agents to sell both business and personal products. These business owners rarely have life insurance to protect their cash-flow if they die. Insurance agents need to inform these potential customers of the value of and need for insurance as well as providing personal service. Purchases are usually made if the product is affordable, the insurance company is sound and the agent is skilled.

Joint ownership and elderplanning
Article Abstract:
Joint tenancy can pose problems especially for the elderly and so the banking law, tax, medicare and estate planning consequences need to be considered when a joint tenancy is created. There are three types of joint tenancy: spousal, sibling or gift joint tenancy with either survivorship rights or just for convenience. Besides the potential for abuse by the non-elderly tenant, problems are also caused by the applicability of gift taxes, guardianship powers, tax breaks for principle residence real estate and medicare asset determination, among others.
