For PC users, structure is the key; some programs just don't fit lawyers' needs
Article Abstract:
Many attorneys do not consider their information structuring needs when deciding what king of data base program to use. They may spend too much money on a relational data base program when a flat-file program would do what they need. Personal information managers (PIMs) perform a function much needed by lawyers, storing short blocks of text as separate units with various classifications so they can be assembled to create different documents. ECCO Professional is a second-generation PIM law firms may want to consider. It is put out by Arabesque Software Inc and runs under Microsoft Windows.
