"Head nigger in charge": roles that black professionals play in the corporate world

Article Abstract:

African American professionals find themselves frequently confronted with racial issues in the overwhelmingly white business world. Many black business people cope with this problem by relinquishing their racial identities and adopting demeaning roles in the hope of protecting their careers. These negative roles can include informing for management, giving rubber stamp approval to race-related corporate decisions, acting as a henchman or affirmative action deal closer, or ending up as an ineffectual dreamer or self-hating basket case.

Preventative medicine for corporate crime

The US Sentencing Commission's guidelines have redefined the government-business relationship into a law enforcement partnership, extending additional crime-prevention responsibilities to corporations. These guidelines reward vigilant companies for creating successful compliance programs, while punishing corporation failing to do so.

The corporate control of big government

Article Abstract:

Corporations can make and enforce their own authoritarian laws without having to answer to the government, because they are exempt from the Bill of Rights. This situation arose from the growth of government caused by the growth of business and the growing power of the Supreme Court to interpret the constitution during the New Deal. As a result, big government was connected with big business and the judicial system was used to serve powerful businesses.
