Information on CD-ROMs
Article Abstract:
CD-ROM databases are a good way of procuring safety related information. More than 140 CD-ROMS available in the UK provide either bibliographic information or the entire text of articles. By paying for the subscription cost of the CD-ROMS, users with CD-ROM drives in the personal computers, can search for a variety of information. The one time subscription fee makes it less stressful than on-line searching were telephone and network connection charges are involved.

CD-ROMs: accessible help or information overload?
Article Abstract:
Health and safety information is readily available on CD-ROM for UK users. Over 140 titles are available covering medicine, environmental safety, chemical information, first-aid or general safety information, legal information, and similar areas. Although on-line databases are usually more current, users should evaluate the cost-effectiveness and advantages of using CD-ROMs. Boolean and other search strategies are useful in researching health topics on CD-ROM.
