Marked woman; heroin kingpins have put out contracts on prosecutor Cathy Palmer's life. For her, it's business as usual
Article Abstract:
Catherine Palmer is a federal prosecutor in New York who specializes in Asian heroin traffic cases. She is hard-working and universally admired, even by adversaries. Her method includes building cases from the ground up, gaining the confidence of low-level witnesses who might become informants. Her record includes 18 jury trials of key heroin traffickers and guilty pleas in many more such cases. She started in private practice but became a prosecutor because she wanted to 'make a difference.'

How a prosecutor learned all he needs to know from Johnny Cash
Article Abstract:
Johnny Cash's music teaches a public prosecutor to see the other side of many of the problems he encounters daily. Cash sings of the downtrodden and the criminal as human beings with their own interests, passions, and sympathetic moments. He also reminds us that injustice persists, a role that those in the criminal justice system share. He reminds us of the possibility of redemption, a much-needed offering of hope to those who otherwise might lose it.
