Client research is key to nontraditional services; law firms can bolster revenues and client loyalty by identifying and providing add-on services
Article Abstract:
Law firm marketing that attracts and keeps clients starts with a search for information about their individual requirements. Specific inquiries about prospective clients and their businesses strike a chord with the audience and mark the lawyer as a unique service provider. Law firms should, as a general rule, seek out what they do not know about existing clients as this may uncover new business opportunities. A whole portfolio of information and opportunities can emerge from computer-based research, especially about business clients.

Movements for reform taking root: Congress and the administration have ambitious plans to revamp environmental policy. Change can flourish if the two are reconciled
Article Abstract:
Efforts in Congress to revise how environmental standards are set and to emphasize risk assessment and cost-benefit analysis in making decisions complement the administration's plans for improving implementation and enforcement. Reform was already coming to environmental regulation, as the Clinton administration's first two years showed, but the Republican takeover of the House and Senate has accelerated the trend. Together the two movements may give the Environmental Protection Agency a new focus and new tools.
