"No secrets" deal wins over gas showroom staff
Article Abstract:
The retail staff at British Gas have worked out an arrangement of pay freezes for old employees and market rates for new entrants in the face of likely pay and holiday cuts. The agreement is effective Jul 1995. The pay freezes apply after employees reach the maximum in their present grades. The deal was facilitated by the company's open approach. The trade unions are hoping to negotiate a pay deal for 1995 and make it retroactive from Apr 1, 1995. The details of the present arrangement are discussed.
