PC Law Jr. goes to 2.0
Article Abstract:
Alumni Computer Group's $295 PC Law Jr. for Windows 2.0 billing program distinguishes itself by offering basic accounting features in addition to its timekeeping functions. PC Law is well laid out and easy to use. A flow chart accompanies every function and demonstrates how the particular function fits into the overall process. Users may skip ahead in the flow chart by clicking on any feature listed there. Time and billing information are organized by client number, and users have no way of editing the display to show the client's name instead. Printing bills is simple, and users may use preexisting billing templates or create custom bills. The accounting module allows users to write a check and will transfer information from the check's memo section along with the case's number to the billing portion of the program. The billing function will then automatically bill the appropriate client when an invoice is paid.

Norton makeover for 95
Article Abstract:
Symantec's $84.94 Norton Anti-Virus for Windows 95 offers solid protection, and the $104.95 Norton Navigator for Windows 95 provides interesting functions, while the $124.95 Norton Utilities for Windows 95 adds little to the operating system. The AntiVirus software's power is critical because Windows 95 ships with no virus prevention at all. Norton Utilities' strongest feature is the Systems Doctor that monitors systems resources, although even this feature is redundant considering Windows' monitoring abilities. The Navigator allows users to create several desktops, and includes features such as zipping and unzipping, automatic archiving, file indexing and a different Taskbar. Its most practical functions are the File Manager and its support for long filenames.
