Patent law; actual notice under S. 297(a)
Article Abstract:
Issues are discussed concerning the requirement that patent owners must mark products with the appropriate patent number or provide notice of the patent to infringers under 35 USC 287(a) as a prerequisite to filing suit. Cases demonstrating the problems of notice and jurisdiction are discussed.

Article Abstract:
The need for those crafting notice to potential plaintiffs in a class action or mass tort to understand multimedia and how potential plaintiffs learn messages given to them is discussed. Rule 23 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure covers all legal ramifications of class actions.

Determining rights through declaratory judgments; courts will adjudicate patent claims only if there is an actual controversy between parties
Article Abstract:
Issues are discussed regarding the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit's approach to the use of the declaratory judgment in patent cases. How the court comes to a decision whether to accept or decline jurisdiction in such cases is discussed at some length.
