Positive discipline and labor arbitration
Article Abstract:
There is a trend among management in the disciplining of employees toward positive discipline, which encourages employees to change their behavior by reasoning with them, and away from progressive discipline, which imposes increasing levels of punishment. Decisionmaking leave with pay is being used in place of suspension without pay. Arbitrators have expressed mixed opinions about positive discipline and need to become more familiar with it.

However, immunity is necessary for finality of arbitrators' decisions. Few cases against arbitrators have been filed in nations allowing arbitral liability.
