Predicting unethical behavior: a comparison of the theory of reasoned action and the theory of planned behavior

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the validity of the theory of planned behavior and reasoned action when applied in the area of moral behavior. Other objectives are to compare the utility of the theory of unethical behavior and reasoned action in predicting unethical behavior and to investigate whether the inclusion of a causal path will improve the predictive power of the theory. Data were collected from 181 Hong Kong university students. Results indicate that the theory of planned behavior can be successfully used to predict unethical behavior.
