The Council on Economic Priorities' annual guide, 'Shopping for a Better World,' evaluates corporations' social responsibility based on factors including charitable donations, promotion of women and minorities, animal testing, community involvement, concern for the environment, disclosure of information and workplace concerns such as family leave. Progress is clearly being made, but much remains to be done.

Social screen's bottom-line impact
Article Abstract:
The Calvert Social Investment Fund invests in corporations conducting themselves in a socially responsible manner and it is the only US fund which invests up to 1% of its assets to make a social impact in the full knowledge that the financial return will be lower. In the 10 years since its founding in the mid-1980s, social investing has achieved increasing public acceptance.
