Can slower growth save the world?
Article Abstract:
Various corporate executives responded to Yvon Chouinard's commitment to sustainable development, namely, limiting product lines since the world's natural resources will not support endless economic growth. Environmental interests such as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund and advocates of socially responsible investment favor this approach. Peter Barnes of Working Assets Long Distance wants to distinguish between 'mind products' and 'resource products.' David Vogel, a professor of business, disagrees that Third World resources are close to being exhausted.

Article Abstract:
A possible approach towards achieving peace would be use business-type strategies to market and create a greater demand for peace. The intangible quality of peace does not disqualify it from marketing. Many products have been successfully marketed by creating a need for them. Organizations that have done much to promote peace include the UN, the US Institute of Peace, and the National Peace Foundation. However, these organizations have not yet fully employed marketing strategies to stop and prevent war.
