Article Abstract:
The author compares Lawrence Joseph's "Lawyerland" to the works of hard-boiled detective novelists Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He concludes that Joseph's writing is closer to Hammett's because "Lawyerland's" characters lack hope.
