The choice of organizational form in gasoline retalinling and the cost of laws that limit that choice

Article Abstract:

Many states now have laws forbidding direct ownership of service stations by petroleum refiners. These are based on a hypothesis that direct ownership will increase predatory business practices. However, the evidence does not support this hypothesis.

Deregulating property-casualty insurance pricing: the case of workers' compensation

Article Abstract:

The deregulation of workers' compensation insurance led to fewer workplace injuries by increasing the economic incentives for occupational safety and health. Deregulation also decreased premiums in the long term.

Market power and cartel formation: theory and an empirical test

Article Abstract:

A study of the conditions that motivate produce growers to form cartels is presented. Six factors that lead to the growth of cartels in the produce industry are identified.
