The continuing debate regarding the lease versus disguised security interest issue: did the Edison court correctly find a true lease?
Article Abstract:
The bankruptcy court in Delaware ruled in In re Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. that a secured transaction was a true lease. This conclusion favored United and ParcTec and the debtor as required to timely perform its obligations under the lease agreement. Th Edison court 's ruling was an implicit statement to the debtor that it could not recharacterize the transaction from a true lease to a disguised security interest by changing the accounting treatment midcourse.

Whether mutual fund managers systematically overprice their professional investment advice is discussed. The focus is on advisory fees imposed on equity mutual funds. Proposals for the competitive environment in which fund advisory fees are set and disclosed are given.
