The melting pots; redefining law firm cultures in changing times
Article Abstract:
Law firms have distinct corporate cultures reflecting the ideas, personalities and skills of their members. External and internal factors can reshape these cultures over time. Factors which have altered law firm cultures in the early 1990s have included greater diversification, changing associate status and increased internal and external competition. Culture has also become a marketing tool used by firms when courting clients or potential employees.

Belli's firm breaks up; suit says famed trial lawyer disregarded partners' decisions
Article Abstract:
Melvin Belli's San Francisco law firm, Belli, Belli, Brown, Monzione, Fabro and Zakaria, is involved in an acrimonious dissolution. Four of the partners and an associate who was denied partnership have sued Belli, but a court order has directed that the firm remain under one roof while a receiver handles administration. Plaintiffs in the suit hope to start their own firm.

The grand concept; the integrated approach to law firm management
Article Abstract:
The six components critical to effective law firm management are the strategic plan, service quality, the marketing plan, the pricing and billing system, the compensation system and law firm governance. All other components flow from an effective strategic plan. The compensation system should reward and motivate contributions to the strategic plan.
