The regulation of health care professionals other than physicians
Article Abstract:
Medical professional regulations have a negative impact on the quality and cost of vision care goods and services. Empirical research suggests a need to deregulate the market in order to avoid higher fees and practitioner incomes that mainly benefit the regulated group members. However, federal and state governments seem reluctant to deregulate the market and amend occupational licensing laws and related scope-of-practice and business practice regulations.

The 1980s takeover boom and government regulation
Article Abstract:
The adverse economic effects of the merger and acquisition boom of the 1980's is attributed to the legalization and widespread adoption of the poison pill which enabled target managers to incur massive loans to repurchase equity and defeat hostile bidders. This situation is deleterious to a free and unfettered market for corporate control. A shareholder vote mandated by the SEC is a measure that could restrict the spread of poison pills.
