Tilting the table? The use of preliminary injunctions
Article Abstract:
The use of preliminary injunctions in patent infringement cases is examined. It is contended that preliminary injunctions can serve an economic purpose for a plaintiff by imposing significant costs on the defendant. This increases the potential rewards for the plaintiff and can disadvantage smaller companies.

Development of an HIV research database using Medicaid claims data
Article Abstract:
The development of the HIV research database for Medicaid claims data is studied. Most of the cases were identifiable by ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes and about 98 percent were identifiable by the codes for HIV/AIDS (042).

Patenting in the shadow of competitors
Article Abstract:
The author examines patenting behavior among biotechnology firms and concludes that firms with high litigation costs take greater precautions to avoid litigation but also file less patents in subclasses.
