Towards a single market in retail financial services: Reflections on the role of ADR

Article Abstract:

An integrated market in the retail financial services sector in European markets remains elusive which continue to be fragmented along national lines but one which is essential for consumers and business alike to reap the full benefits of the euro. Non-regulatory measures such as wider use of modern, distance marketing technologies and parallel development of flexible, accessible and publicly known dispute resolution mechanisms are some of the Community initiatives suggested to facilitate financial market integration.

A modified open method of coordination in corporate governance

Article Abstract:

The Open Method of Coordination (OMC) method applied into corporate governance is discussed, focusing on the theoretical dynamics of the method. It is found that EU has applied this method in the broader area of corporate governance as a means to foster competition of laws and regulatory regimes for the benefit of investors and the market at large and that it has used the method long before it gave it a name.
