Unions in Mexico and U.S. have striking distinctions; laws of both countries guarantee workers; rights, but in Mexico, registration with the government is prerequisite to unionization
Article Abstract:
Mexico's procedures and regulations regarding unions differ markedly from those of the US, with the former requiring a government imprimatur in order to exist, but the latter depending on the workers' election. Mexico's labor law system is currently under investigation by several bodies, including the US National Administrative Office and the International Labor Organization. Labor unions played a crucial role in the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and the Mexican Confederation of Workers has been a favored political force.
