What does woman want? Recognition at last

Article Abstract:

The planned statue in Washington, DC's, Capitol Rotunda depicting 3 suffragists has sparked controversies over the depiction of women which cast light on the questions of sex discrimination in the legal profession. The reason for moving the suffragists' statue from the Capitol's basement to the more visible Rotunda is that woman make up half of the nation's citizens and their achievements should be recognized in the seat of government. Women are underrepresented in places of greatest prominence and want to be meaningfully recognized.

Progress for women in law - but no parity yet

Article Abstract:

Bias against women attorneys still exists and starts in law school with such problems as professors implicitly marginalizing women by not addressing sex discrimination in class. Women law teachers also have trouble reaching the top of their profession, with women accounting for more than 40% of law students, 30% of full-time professors, but less than 20% aof tenured teachers and fewer than 10% of law school deans. Women have indeed advanced, but still have far to go.

Is there sexual parity for prisoners?

Article Abstract:

Female prisoners are treated differently, but it is unclear how much of this difference is because of gender bias, and how great a role the different crimes and histories of offenders play. The different treatment ranges from different application of capital punishment to different prison work assignments. The best place to start searching for remedies might be the often inadequate care prisoners' children get while their mothers are incarcerated.
