Wrongful dismissal: arbitration and the law
Article Abstract:
Arbitration may be an effective way to decide wrongful dismissal cases without litigation but within the legal framework. State legislation usually determines if arbitration is allowable, and internal appeals procedures should be carried out before arbitration is used. Compulsory arbitration can decrease litigation, but some are opposed to the idea because collective bargaining agreements are not valid in individual cases. It is still likely that litigation will be instigated by one of the parties due to the lack of a history of such arbitration. Qualified arbitrators, common and external law and types of arbitration are discussed.

ADR: a solution for environmental disputes
Article Abstract:
The use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to solve environmental disputes is likely to increase in the near future. The federal government, who hears most environmental litigation, is encouraging the use of ADR to save time and money. Both government agencies and private corporations are using more trained arbitrators, especially agencies and companies who have environmental concerns. A review of the statutes pertaining to ADR and environmental law, the implementation and methods of ADR procedures, the EPA and environmental ADR case history are discussed.
