The determinants of international telephone traffic imbalances
Article Abstract:
The data for bilateral telephone traffic between the United States and 148 foreign destinations from 1990 to 1997 is studied to find the reasons of telephone traffic imbalances. The economic and infrastructure factors such as country-specific differences in teledensity, market concentration and income levels are found to be the determinants for such imbalances.

The fragmentation of America's telecommunications system: the operational implications of network unbundling
Article Abstract:
The evolution of telecommunication industry in the United States from monolithic to competitive is studied. It shows how the resulting network unbundling differs from all previous network separations and identifies the operational risks of the various 'unbundled network elements'.

Does incentive regulation 'cause' degradation of retail telephone service quality?
Article Abstract:
Some form of incentive regulation for incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) is adopted by most of the US states. An attempt is taken to assess the linkage between the form of regulation in place and performance on various retail service quality measures.
