Electronic data interchange (EDI) refers to the exchange of structured business messages in electronic form among organizations. The European Commission is encouraging companies based in the EU's member countries to adopt EDI through its Trade Electronic Data Interchange Systems (TEDIS) program. The impact of TEDIS on the implementation of EDI by European firms is investigated.
