The role of patent law in Poland's transitioning science and technology policy, and a comparison with the patent laws of the United States
Article Abstract:
Poland seeks to transform its economy through a science and technology policy stressing modernization. However, this policy will not bear fruit unless the government couples it with an improved willingness to protect intellectual property. Poland also faces related issues such as privatization, physical access, and telecommunications access. Comparison with US patent law showed that Poland must bolster intellectual property protection to achieve its goals of boosting exports and foreign investments.

The West German smorgasbord approach to intellectual property protection of computer software
Article Abstract:
A multi-tiered patent system may provide the best regime for intellectual property protection of computer software. Modeled on the West German smorgasbord approach, a multi-tiered system would allow much of the current system to be retained, while increasing market efficiency. The system would allow minor patents to be granted for the less valuable elements of products such as computer programs, for which traditional patents provide too much protection.
