Big brother Inc: Surveillance, security and the US citizen
Article Abstract:
Powerful new technologies that are used for screening terrorists are discussed which leads away from the fundamental rights and liberties guaranteed to the US citizens in their Bill of Rights. Patriot Act increases the government's surveillance capability and allowed for intensive scrutiny of electronic records of as many people as possible to identify patterns of terrorist behavior and ultimately to unmask the terrorist themselves before they act.

Solar system commuter trains: MagBeam plasma propulsion
Article Abstract:
Professor Robert Winglee of Earth and Space Sciences Department at the University of Washington has proposed a new kind of ion propulsion system called MagBeam that might make fast solar system travel and interstellar exploration a reality called a MagBeam. The spacecraft whose systems use electrode ion drives could allow astronauts to make a round trip to Mars in less than a hundred days.
