Companies trade barbs over next White House helicopter
Article Abstract:
The two companies vying to build the U.S. President's next helicopter, namely Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. that has proposed the VH-92 Superhawk and Lockheed Martin Corp. that has proposed the US101 based on a British-Italian design, have been trading barbs over their helicopter designs, especially with Sikorsky stating that Washington would have to seek permission from Great Britain or Italy to modify a part or change the design of the US101. In response, Lockheed Martin has stated that the U.S. companies in their international consortium would hold the data rights to all components and all supportability would be possible from within the United States and also promoted the vibration dampening system of the proposed US101 based on Active Control Structure Response (ACSR) that provides a smoother ride and cuts down on maintenance.
