David Owen - Matinee Idol or Future PM?
Article Abstract:
David Owen is a forty-five year old member of Parliament who could some day challenge Margaret Thatcher's position as Prime Minister of Great Britain. The vigorous, adept performance of Owen has brought him the leadership of the Social Democrat Party. He is much concerned with social issues although he is active on a wide range of other issues. His ideas are a mixture of conservative and liberal that makes him hard to classify. He has been Foreign Secretary and Minister of Health. His activities have widened the appeal of his party.
