From plane to parts, Boeing pitches 737 for Naval Patrol

The Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft (MMA) based on Boeing's new-generation 737 will have reconnaissance, surveillance and weapons system capabilities required for a long-range submarine-hunting aircraft and will also be capable of controlling Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Due to the strong competition from Lockheed Martin, Boeing invited reporters to Seattle to a see a prototype of the MMA mission system, the 737 production line and the company's massive Spares and Distribution Center and highlighted the open architecture of the MMA capable of being plugged into a network of other systems that continuously and automatically update each other.p
