School administrators and teachers in Pittsburgh, PA, caught molesting students were routinely permitted to resign and be rehired in another district. Sexual misconduct on the part of educators nationwide has risen between 1994 and 1998, and those numbers are almost certainly underreported.

Political patronage: closed system costs students, taxpayers
Article Abstract:
Investigative reporter Sean Patrick Lyons discovered that political patronage is a significant element in the Waterford, CT, school board. Jobs were traded for political favors and this practice cost the taxpayers money and prevented minority hiring.
