IRE award winners
Article Abstract:
The biggest winners in the 1997 Investigative Reporters & Editors Inc's (IRE) contest were the Los Angeles Times and NBC News Dateline. The California newspaper was given IRE Medals for two series, 'Money from Asia' about the Clinton fundraising campaign and 'And Justice for Some' about unresolved homicides. NBC Dateline won an IRE Medal for its piece on child labor in Asia, and also IRE's Tom Renner Award for excellence in organized crime reporting. The other winners and finalists are mentioned.

Winners of the 1999 Investigative Reporters and Editors Awards were selected from 500 entries. Submissions from The Washington Post, The Times-Herald record of Middletown, NY, and The Dayton Daily News were three of the winning papers . Other winners are listed.
