Many reasons for a monorail
Article Abstract:
A monorail system such as the Swiss-designed VLRS has the potential to bring significant benefits to city centres in the UK. The VLRS system is fully funded by the private sector, operating profitably without subsidies. This is achieved through a combination of low capital expenditure and low running costs. It has been shown that VLRS can open up development sites, particularly in brownfield areas where it can ease traffic problems by offering remote and satellite parking.
