Trouble in schools: Looking ahead
Article Abstract:
Reporters and editors investigating problems at local schools need to understand several critical aspects about school crime and violence before they tackle school safety issues. Journalist must keep in mind the fact that federal school crime statistics grossly underestimate school crime and violence, that school safety is an extremely political issue in most school districts, and that school crimes are grossly under-reported by school officials to law enforcement.

Army files, interviews detail rogue Tiger Force killings in Vietnam
Article Abstract:
The Tiger Force killed scores of unarmed farmers, women and children in Song Ve Valley, Vietnam, and was also accused of severing ears and scalps for souvenirs. Through Army sources the journalists got complete sets of unredacted classified files of the investigation on these killings that was published in nearly every major American newspaper.
