When law-enforcement agencies turn into suspects
Article Abstract:
Corrupt government agents are compelling investigative subjects, although they detract reporters from exposing the real culprits and issues. Law enforcement agents are prime media targets on account of the power they wield over the common people. However, journalistic obsession with individual agents often precludes the powerful political figureheads, who dominate and misuse law enforcement agencies, such as the Justice Department and the Police. Journalists need to target this category of suspect law enforcement agents and expose their role in encouraging the operation of a flawed system.
