Asking too many questions?
Article Abstract:
Some industry experts suggest the use of focus groups in the television industry reduces the skill of the producer to create a popular show. Others suggest the industry needs focus groups to point out where producers have gone wrong but the groups are not able to initiate the creative process. The use of focus groups for drama programmes is less successful but the approach works better for entertainment programmes. Some observers point out focus groups have to be questioned very carefully to obtain worthwhile answers. Information is gained from discussion groups or by questionaries.
