BBC2 and BBC4 to be hit hardest by cuts

Article Abstract:

BBC2 will co-commission several BBC4 programs to make way for the proposed budget cuts due to the corporation's license fee deficit worth 2 billion pounds. BBC will also trim up to 50% of its in-house staff and will hire freelancers on a project-by-project basis instead. The scope of BBC2's recycling of BBC4 content, and the human resource management of BBC Corp., are discussed.

Paxman fights corner against budget cuts

Article Abstract:

Jeremy Paxman's MacTaggart lecture at the 2007 Edinburgh Television Festival discussed the state of the TV industry in the UK and the future of BBC after its license fee settlement. One of the highlights of his lecture was BBC's platform versus content debate, and the impending budget cuts that will take place. BBC's financing and Paxman's opinion on it, are discussed.

Caught by netting off?

Article Abstract:

A survey on Indies 2006 revealed that 68% of them felt that they had been victims of netting off through reduced budgets and tariff freezes. Netting off is basically the practice the broadcasters offering smaller budgets to Indies' producers to hold back the value of secondary rights they lost under the new terms of trade. Details of the issue are presented.
