Basin Visual Estimation Technique (BVET) and representative reach approaches to wadeable stream survey
Article Abstract:
Basin Visual Estimation Techniques (BVET) was used to estimate abundance for fish populations in small streams; these methodologies were adopted by numerous government agencies for monitoring stream biota. The studies stated that lack of bed control structures, variability in flow regimes, and lack of consistency among observers created difficulties in assessing habitat in using BVET methods.
