The Hutton controversy raged and meanwhile Luke Johnson became the new Channel 4 chairman, and there was speculation as to how the channel would cope with his more hands-on approach. However, his entrepreneurial record more than compensates for his lack of media experience, and it is important that Johnson establishes a good rapport with whoever is in charge, as this would be a tremendous strength to the channel.
