Evolutionary ideas

Article Abstract:

Granada Group has a very strong presence in the UK television broadcasting industry, but has until recently given little indication of whether it intends to expand overseas. However, it has now started to show interest in international programme sales, having created BRITE, a new distribution operation, in Oct 1995. It remains extremely cautious about expansion abroad, preferring to ensure that operations in the UK remain on a sound footing.

Waiting game

Article Abstract:

Carlton Communications' purchase of around a third of new concern Channel KTV in Singapore in summer 1995 was generally viewed rather critically, but in fact it may be the basis of a strong international presence for the company. It has now made a number of overseas moves, and believes that it is gaining in confidence and experience. It is also looking to boost its production and distribution activities in the UK.
