Fisheries Management Reform Act

Article Abstract:

A legislation was recommended by the United State Commission on Ocean Policy the Pew Oceans Commission to reform United States fishery management in June 2004. This was the first legislation introduced in Congress to help to eliminate long-standing financial conflicts of interest, unbalanced representation and poor conservation decisions in fishery management system.

NOAA Fisheries awards $900,000 for ESA projects

Article Abstract:

More than $900,000 is awarded by NOAA Fisheries to six Atlantic coast states and two territories for protecting threatened marine species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The funds are distributed in 3:1 cost-share for conservation and research efforts on ESA-listed marine species along the Atlantic Coast and U.S. Caribbean Territories.
