Joe, Mary and vivid pink frocks: with back-to-back drama of this calibre, who says the BBC is dumbing down?

Article Abstract:

Stephen Poliakoff has created Joe's Palace and Capturing Mary for BBC which has one character in common in the person of a concierge named Joe. The new work has a richer look from Poliakoff's gritty dramas of the late 1970s. Poliakoff's use of vibrant colors in his films is due to his belief that life is full of extraordinary images where one has to be bold to reflect reality.

Journalists, particularly those working in war zones, are increasingly being targeted by armed groups involved in conflicts around the world.
