Lack of foursight?
Article Abstract:
Channel 4 failed to attract very large audiences for its drama and light entertainment programmes in 1997. Indeed, no series made specifically for Channel 4 attracted even 4 million viewers. The channel's first-run commissioned entertainment averaged 1.3 million viewers in 1997, from 1.7 million in 1996 and 1.9 million in 1995. There has been a strong focus on a group of 10 independent programme suppliers. Between 1993 and 1997, almost half of Channel 4's entertainment came from a group led by Rapido, Hat Trick, Mersey and Planet 24.
