MPs irate as BBC cuts regional political jobs
Article Abstract:
BBC's proposal to reduce the number of its regional political correspondent at Millbank has been criticized by MPs, saying the move reflects the company's effort to cut cost and reduce its parliament coverage. BBC's plan calls for the company to remove the 10 correspondents in Westminster, UK, and replace them with only four posts and assign its 10 newly-hired editors around the UK. However, BBC head of press and public affairs for the region, Jerry Johns, countered accusations of the MPs, saying they had misunderstood real motives of the plan.

Ofcom - Labour's litmus test
Article Abstract:
It seems most unlikely that the UK Labour party will make any dramatic changes to the regulation of communications and the media if it wins the forthcoming general election. Regulatory uncertainty will continue to hamper investment in these sectors, and consumers will continue to face high prices and limited choice. It is vital that the party which wins the next election gives a high priority to clearly allocating responsibilities for the regulation of the media and communications.
