Network and cable TV: from electronic hearth to TV news on demand

Article Abstract:

The Internet and digital cable television are creating a made-to-order television news environment in the US. News is becoming a niche activity, with television news now being merely one of many different options. The large networks are in decline, partly because of very strong competition from cable. However, it would be too simplistic to merely state that this trend will continue. It is inevitable that the news market will become extremely divided, with a shift towards services such as news-on-demand.
